Some freelancing opportunities are scams

In my short time freelancing, I have gotten scammed.

Scams happen because people sometimes want free information that they do not have to pay for. Or they want jobs done free for them, they complain about the job, edit the job and assume that they did the job for themselves.

The truth about scamming

Scamming is wrong in any form. Anyone who scams others cannot be trusted.

How can you avoid scamming in the freelancing business?

Use content mills:

Content mills will protect you from being scammed. They are also entitled to 20% of what you earn so they shorten your remuneration also.

Work with credible organizations:

When the client is interviewing you, you are also interviewing the client. Your time is valuable. Value it first. Charge a fee for anything you do.

Work with a registered business:

Always send an invoice requesting pay before you start the work. This is so that you don't waste your time working only for the client to rewrite your work and pass it off as theirs.

Build trust with good clients:

Getting good clients is a journey. Build trust by being invested in the business of your client.

If you do get scammed, read this article to learn how to get your money back if you live in Nigeria.
